Pappa! Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
Pappa! is a cat feeding tracker. This policy explains what the app stores, where it is stored, who else handles it, and how to get rid of it. It covers the Pappa! app for iPhone and iPad.
Pappa! is made by The Audacity (Miguel Tineo, sole trader, Italy), the data controller. Contact: [email protected].
Using Pappa! without an account
Pappa! works without an account. In that mode your cats, meals and weights stay on your device and we never receive them. The app still sends anonymous usage analytics, described below.
What we store when you create an account
An account exists so that people in the same household see the same cats. Creating one is what starts your cat data leaving your device.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and password | To sign you in and to send account emails (confirmation, password reset). The password is stored only as a salted hash. |
| Display name | So the people in your household see who logged a meal. |
| Household name, invite code and membership | To group members and let someone join. |
| Cat profiles | Name, emoji, status, current and target weight, and daily goals. |
| Feeding records | Time, grams, food type, and which member logged it. |
| Weight history | The weights you record for each cat. |
| Invite code attempts | Your account and the time of each attempt to join a household, to stop people guessing codes. |
Analytics and crash reports
The app uses PostHog, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany), to see how the app is used and to find bugs. It records:
- which screens you open, and when the app is opened or closed;
- feeding actions, with the food type and grams (never cat names);
- errors and crashes, with technical details;
- device and app details such as model, OS version and app version;
- a random identifier for your installation, and, if you sign in, your account ID and email address so that events from your devices are grouped.
IP addresses are discarded by PostHog on arrival. Analytics are not used for advertising, not shared with ad networks, and not combined with data from other companies' apps or websites. We do not track you across apps.
What we do not collect
- Cat photos never leave your device. They are not uploaded, even with an account.
- No advertising identifiers and no ad networks.
- No location, no contacts, no health data about you.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Where it is stored, and who handles it
- Account and household data is stored in our own database on servers we run at Hetzner in Germany.
- Encrypted backups of that database are kept in Amazon Web Services (S3, Ireland).
- Account emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Ireland).
- Analytics go to PostHog (EU cloud, Germany), as described above.
- Traffic to our servers passes through Cloudflare, which protects them from attacks.
- Our servers keep access logs (time, address requested, IP address, app version) for 14 days to detect and stop attacks.
Each of these providers processes data only on our behalf. Until 29 September 2026 account data was hosted by Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany; the copy left there is frozen and will be deleted.
How long we keep it
Account and household data is kept for as long as your account exists. Delete the account and it is removed from the live database immediately. Encrypted backups are rotated on a fixed schedule and the oldest copies are deleted after two years. Analytics events are kept in PostHog for up to seven years; ask us and we delete the events linked to your account.
Deleting your account and data
In the app: Settings, Household, then Delete Account. It takes effect immediately.
Deleting your account removes your login, your profile and your household memberships. Any household in which you were the last member is deleted along with its cats, feedings and weight history. If someone else is still in the household, the household and its history stay with them, and the entries you logged stop being attributed to you.
If you cannot reach the app, see the account deletion page.
Legal basis
We process account and household data to provide the service you asked for (contract), and analytics and crash reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it. You can object to analytics at any time by writing to us.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to object to its processing. Write to the address below and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Children
Pappa! is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is handled, we tell you in the app.

Pappa! Informativa sulla privacy
Ultimo aggiornamento 1 ottobre 2026
Pappa!
Contatto: [email protected].
Usare Pappa! senza account
Pappa! funziona senza account.
Statistiche d'uso e segnalazioni di errori
L'app usa PostHog, ospitato nell'UE (Francoforte, Germania), per capire come viene usata e trovare i bug. Registra:
- quali schermate apri e quando l'app viene aperta o chiusa;
- le azioni sui pasti, con tipo di cibo e grammi (mai i nomi dei gatti);
- errori e crash, con dettagli tecnici;
- dati del dispositivo e dell'app come modello, versione del sistema e dell'app;
PostHog scarta gli indirizzi IP all'arrivo.
- Email dell'account: inviate tramite Amazon Simple Email Service (Irlanda).
- Statistiche: PostHog (cloud UE, Germania), come descritto sopra.
Eliminare account e dati
Nell'app: Impostazioni, Casa, poi Elimina account.
I tuoi diritti
Scrivi all'indirizzo qui sotto: rispondiamo entro 30 giorni.
